Los Angeles Rain: Poem

Los Angeles Rain

by Armando Ortiz

Standing under the cover of night

watching the rain clouds paint

Downtown L.A. with Dodger grey

Palm trees sway goodbye to another day

as electric ensembles purify the streets

under the shimmering incandescent lights,

Wheels swish through water and disappear from sight

the rhythm of the acoustic ensemble continues

liquid cymbals splashing throughout the night,

Someone steps outside their tiny room and with all their might

remember their first winter storm in L.A.

and begin to play their trumpet to clear skies nigh.
